- Alan Hansen’s analysis on the Match of the Day 2 seemed a little off. Obviously, the Gerrard penalty they should have had was cited. But when have you ever previously seen replay after replay for a possible free-kick out of the box that wasn’t given? Hardly a game changer. And as for Mascherano-Fabregas coming together that he said could have been a red for our skipper, they are exactly the kind of challenges the likes of Hansen bemoan us not going in for! Both men had their feet raised and arrived at virtually the same time, unless like Hansen you want to referee a game based on freeze frame images. Given it was in our half, the notion it contributed significantly to our ensuing equaliser is even odder!
- Interesting stuff on the Monday Night Club on BBC radio 5 live last night. One contributor (I forget who) said he had heard that Arsene came out with the “not fit to wear the shirt” line a few weeks back at Sunderland. But another suggested that from what he’d heard Cesc’s words were not to be taken literally and that in fact he simply asked them whether they wanted to be out of the title race come the end of the day.
