@Hazza1979 don't know what names... just don't want us to sell half the squad and only then buy... (like last year)

Are we the victims of a grand Spurs plan where we are forever in a 3rd place, trophyless comfort zone? http://t.co/AmZ4gLyB

@5mandefence @goonerboyblog agree that spirit has been greatly improved.

Bolton thoughts: Picking Eastmond, Cesc’s season, Merida’s stockiness

Thoughts on Bolton…

Arsene was brave to pick Eastmond…
By that I mean brave in a good way. It may well be the case Rosicky had been pencilled in for midfield until Nasri got injured, but whatever the story, it was good to see a home-grown player getting a chance in one of his preferred positions. And though he was sometimes caught in possession, by and large he was right place at the right times.

Cesc is having the kind of season…
that you need your best players to have if you’re to win the title. So too are Vermaelen, Gallas and Song, while Sagna has been very consistent. Whether they can sustain it and others can find excellent second half of season form will tell us a lot.

Arshavin and Eduardo may not have fired on all guns…
But they definitely looked better with Arshavin left and Eduardo up front, rather than the other way round.

I like Traore’s willing…
But after strong performances over the festive period he has looked very exposed against Everton and at the Reebok. It’s hard not to see Clichy slotting straight back in.

Before we moan about injuries…
We should remember how lucky we’ve been to have Vermaelen and Gallas ever present in arguably the position where we’ve had least back-up.

It’s true that on another day…
We might not have won and that Bolton may have taken their chances. But our victory was no accident. Tackles were flown into and we matched them physically. You can’t oversell the importance of Vermaelen when we’re under the kosh.

Cesc handled provocation quite brilliantly.
Winding him up nowadays is a lot harder than it used to be. Rather than getting mad, he’s letting his feet do the talking and Bolton struggled to cope.

Physically, Merida is interesting…
Because he’s stockier looking than the prototype Wenger player. It’s a great shame he’s injured for Wednesday night as he’s suddenly started to look the part.

Dirty? We’re now as clean as they come.
By my reckoning it’s now a very impressive 56 games since an Arsenal player was sent-off. Watch for that fact to be lost the next time one is.
