Fabregas inspires Arsenal to season’s best: report from ground

FROM GOODPLAYA at the Emirates.

IT was a very decent performance before Cesc Fabregas came on. In 27 minutes he turned it into our best of the performance of the season. Here is the audio report I recorded during stoppage time.

  9. We’ve absolutely ripped teams apart this season, but the two wins I’ve enjoyed most was the one at Anfield and today’s. I thought we were brilliant today. But for a few nervous minutes in the first half, the defence was solid. In midfield, Song and Diaby were great. Diaby really thrived in being the most attacking of the central 3, and when Cesc came on, he was disciplined and held his position well. Nasri was bright, Eduardo persistent, Arshavin a bit disappointing. But when you beat team challenging for your spot 3-0 at home, complaining is pointless. Excellent team performance. Best of the season? I think the 6-1 at Goodison deserves that award, but this comes a close second. We love you Arsenal, we do! VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT

  15. dun mean to ruin the celebrations, but i was just looking through the fixture list….
at the end of january and the start of february we have tough tough tough games….

Villa away followed by ManU at home, then Chelsea away and fianlly liverpool at home.

these matches are gonna be the decisive matches for us to capture the title in my opinion. Hopefully by then Fab will be up and running and we’ll have a big striker there to land the goals.

  17. Sherminator, your point is exactly the cause for some cautious optimism. You see, after early Feb, we’d have played all the title contenders. If we’re still within range, then our run-in would be (theoretically) smoother than those of Chelsea & ManU.
But really fine performance yesterday which I sadly missed. :-(
Onwards to Fratton Park for a winning end to 2009.

  19. Just thought I’d add how important the Gallas & Vermaelen partnership is. They’ve been ever present in the league. Thought they handled Villa’s ‘on the break’ style very well.

  23. Completely agree about Villa fans – they are right up there with football’s most idiotic.
