Last night’s report coming later

Friday morning update: Technology has beaten me again. The report will have to wait a bit longer. In short: great result and we have to believe we’re in it.

  3. I need a quick rant about MOTD, Hansen in particular.

Linekar: Can Arsenal kick on and win the league?
Hansen: No. Can I assume that by you asking me that question you can make a case for them?
    Linekar: (laughs) moving swiftly on….

Pair of imbeciles. They’ve sat that watching Arsenal get a win against a much improved, albeit still basically just stubborn Liverpool, after a very difficult period for the Arsenal…the top 2 drop points, we’ve watched Terry defend like an arse, ,they stated that Chelsea have won only 1 in the last 7 away from home. Arsenal have put together a very decent run before Manu / Chelsea defeats and hey, we’ve got Nick B back, so no reason why we can’t get on a run again considering our favorable run in. The top 2 have to play each other so someones dropping points and there’s just under a 1/3rd of a season to play so plenty of games left. I’m a realist – the odds are against us but for ff sake we’re in with a damned decent chance. To dismiss Arsenal completely is ridiculous and I hope the team can go on and make Hansen look like a fool.

  5. Get ready for ramshit to blame Aaron Ramsey or Arsene hiring a private jet for the lateness of the report.

  6. Terry on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 2:54 pm
  7. We don’t get the PR do we, I mean the only paper who went down the line of Man UTD suffering a setback was the guardian.
I think we have a number of weaknesses tactically at the moment but I’m not sure if many other teams will be able to act on that and we must have learnt lessons over the past few weeks. It’s just got very interesting.

  9. Here Here Tom C. Although I think most will agree that Hanson is already a fool.

  11. Diaby scored his 7th for the seasons a decent return and finally the midfielder is showing the class that was always visible to Arsene…
I for one never liked him till last season even.. But credit to him he has changed my opinion about him. If Diaby can stay fit he is a good player for Arsenal…
Denilson though i am not so sure of..
    Title race back on?

  12. Soccerzlife on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 5:04 pm
  13. @ Terry… I know… Surprise he hasnt ranted about Ramsey or Arsene’s sending a private jet for him yet today

  14. Soccerzlife on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 5:05 pm
  15. Title race is back on. We have the easiest run in that I can remember and we’ve got players coming back all the time.

I would rather be 6 points behind with our run in than 6 points ahead with Chelsea’s

  16. Good to be a GOONAH!! on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 5:27 pm
  17. Well run in sure is easy… just checked it out again… If we can tackle the Spurs and Man City games (and not lose one off to unexpected much lower placed teams), We sure have a decent chance to finish second or even first, who knows… No lapse of concentration though is the key

  18. Soccerzlife on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 5:36 pm
  19. Anyone any idea when RvP might be returning?

  20. Tom C on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 6:17 pm
  21. Difficult games to come Man City, Spurs & Stoke.
I think RS will be waiting for GPs report before his usual rant.
Look forward to it as always and to the generated reaction.

  23. Every game in the EPL is a difficult one.
On paper our remaining fixtures appear easy, but the events of the season thus far is telling us different.

  24. Anon on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 8:12 pm
  25. @Anon – exactly. On paper you can say what you like. In the real world we took 6 points off Liverpool, whilst drawing at home to Everton, away to West Ham and Burnley, and losing at Sunderland.

  26. Terry on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 8:18 pm
  27. Terry – but if you actually look at our record against everyone but Chelsea and United, we have a very decent record. Better than United and Chelsea’s in fact.

  28. Goodplaya on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 8:23 pm
  29. Liverpool were a disgrace last night,we were there for the taking last night because of our recent results, but still pool served up another boring defensive display. Well done to the team, showed character to win that game after the last couple of weeks, With chavs and utd dropping points ,it was a nice surprise them leaving the door open just slightly for us. We do have an easier run in but were still up against it. Them people slating others for having opinions, especially when there are still things we need to improve in,like win a trophy, are a bit out of ordr. Shows people have passion!

  33. As the elation begins to subside time to take stock. Some great performances from Diaby Clichy even Almunia. Bendtner back and making a nuisance of himself. Ashley Cunt out for 3 mths Nani suspended Giggs broken arm and no more Big 4 in run in.Can we win it ‘YES WE CAN’.

  35. Planes, controllers, piece of shit, gayman. I admit it I’m a ramshit wannabe. Is there a support group a could join The RA perchance.

  36. paul on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 9:14 pm
  37. 18 comments on an Arsenal blog: and none of them made me want to dig my eyes out. A new record ! Gawd bless you boys…

  38. Anonymarse on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 11:06 pm
  39. I see Giggs is now out for 4 weeks with a fractured arm. He has been a serious power for ManU this season and will be missed. Who will supply Rooney?

And Cole out for the rest of the season with a broken ankle, Terry with his head turned and is missing the next game. Chelsea’s defence has been wobbling lately already.

Meanwhile, we’re getting our players back. I sense that things are shifting. I hope we can take advantage of it. We are certainly capable.

Good to see Bendy back and causing problems. Diaby has now scored just one less than Arshavin. Before his leg break he looked good, but struggled afterwards. Nice to see things happening for him now.

Can’t wait for the next game!

  40. Gogsy on Thursday, 11 February 2010 at 11:33 pm
  41. I feel so much better today than a few days ago about this season.

But to be realistic our chance of winning the league is maybe 10 per cent. Chelski is still the favourite on my accounts but closely followed by Manu. We have been well beaten by the formers twice this season, while I guess we could have won in the autumn at OT had it not been for our current hero, Diaby. Anyway all teams can be tough to beat week in and week out and thats both Arsenals chance and Arsenals challenge. Compared with last season a 10 per cent chance at this moment is certainly a progress. We also have a chance to win CL but I reckon it´s not much more than 10 per cent either. We still miss a good goal keeper and a world class striker (with RVP out). And the squad dept is not impressive in any department so we are much more fragile to injuries than eg. Real, Barce, Bayern or Milan.

If the maneger could make his players fight more and show a stronger winning desire, then I would raise our chances in Europe to 20 per cent. He says they are young and hungry. Lets see them show it on the pitch..

  43. Why didn’t Cesc ask the reporter: “Did you see Gerrard dive, if so are you going to ask him about it?!” when he was asked about the handball?

  44. Booland on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 11:09 am
  45. @Booland. Because Cesc is media savvy enough to know that the “Cesc blasts ‘cheating’ Gerrard” headlines the next day were not worth the hassle.

  46. Terry on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 12:11 pm
  47. @Terry, it would have been fun, if he had. Even Wenger resisted calling that Gerrard ‘dived’…

  48. Booland on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 12:58 pm
  49. Liverpoo and their fans have some nerve complaining about refereeing decisions going against them….they’d do well to remember the Champions League quarterfinals a couple of years back!

  50. arseman on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 1:49 pm
  51. @arseman- they’d do well to remember Gerrards to dip in Istanbul too. Of course it’s practically taboo to mention it but it was a bloody dive! Stevie Me cheated his way to CL glory! Fucking scousers!

  53. Goodplaya… Your later tonight match report still pending? Also, is something not right with the site… When i open at different times a new version opens..and not necessarily latest… i mean i opened today and it said 1 comments against this post whereas there wer some 25 comments already… another time i opened this post itself was missing from the mainpage…
Just thought i’d let you know, in case anyone else is also facing similar issues with the blog..

  55. Wednesday became Thursday – now it’s Friday and still no sign of it.

Goodplaya’s report must be getting treatment from the Arsenal physio team.

  56. Terry on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 3:35 pm
  57. I’ve had a shocker! I admit.

  58. Goodplaya on Friday, 12 February 2010 at 5:29 pm
  59. Tom C, Hansen was playing for Liverpool on THAT night in 1989. Watching his head explode as we did the scousers for the second time this season was almost the best part of the match. I ran home just to catch it. He must have felt so sick inside watching his side’s negative performance, watching Stevie G’s olympic diving and all their fouling coming to nothing. We were clearly off colour and a win for them would have made third a possibility. I would love a YouTube clip of him losing it.

I mean one thing is not to post updates, but to promise them and then not to deliver… I mean… That reminds me of transfers to a football club I support….

  69. Wheres the fuckin report. They arrange a private jet to fly you in and you are too lazy to write a report. A total disgrace in my book. Anyone would think that you are related to Ramsey!

  71. from Dara O’ Briain’s (Gooner) piece in the Grauniad today:

This would be the piece that wonders why the British sports media are so shy to point out that the Liverpool captain has the tendency, in the latter stages of a match, in the deeper recess of the opposition’s half, and at moments of great need, to lose his balance. I believe the term used is “went down easily”. This is harsh, though, as whenever he goes down, even as he falls, his arms are already outstretched, as if to say “Why me? Why must I be the victim of this terrible inner ear problem? What redress can I get for this terrible affliction to my cochlear canals? A free-kick maybe?”
