Nasri has the potential to be another Hleb
SOMETIMES a single fact can speak a thousand words.
If, in the euphoria after the Barcelona first-leg, an oracle had told me that in the 15 games Samir Nasri would play some part in between then and late May he would score just the one goal, I wouldn’t have bothered asking for any more information.
I’d have realised he didn’t do a Freddie or a Pires and that Arsenal didn’t find glory. That stat would have been all I really needed.
Now, like Alex Hleb three years ago, Nasri appears to be flirting with leaving before ever doing himself justice. Before actually making it.
Whereas we have failed over the last couple of seasons in spite of having Cesc Fabregas, we have failed because of players such as Nasri, who ultimately failed to deliver when it mattered. Blunt, but ultimately true.
Through his performances Fabregas has earned the right to go. Nasri has not.
If parity with the top earners at the club is the issue, he is having a laugh. While Samir failed to produce, RVP was banging them in. Cesc too merits more money.
Attacking midfielder Hleb considered himself worthy of playing for Barcelona on the back of no goals in his last 27 Arsenal games. Now Nasri appears tempted by Old Trafford after his less than impressive second half to the season.
Hleb was relegated with Birmingham last month.
Worth thinking about if I were Nasri.
“Hleb was relegated with Birmingham last month.
Worth thinking about if I were Nasri.”
WOW WHAT A DUMB STATEMENT MANU AINT GETTING RELEGATED ANYTIME SOON U CANT BLAME HIM HE SEES AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE SUCCESSFUL,
EVEN CHICARITO HAS WON MORE TROPHIES THAN THE WHOLE ARSENAL SQUAD!!
How is that a stupid comment JONDADON you idiot!
Nasri going to Man U
Hleb going to Barca
and now he is saying look where Hleb is 5 years on, Nasri should think about it, it makes sense idiot
I never comment on blog posts but to the person who commented above, Hleb left for barcelona and they surely have never gotten relegated… Facts are always useful to consult before attacking the author of a post. Also to the chicharito comment, that is not correct either. But whatever the use of all caps really made your point believable.
Jondadon you idiot. Barca didn’t get relegated either. He was loaned out to Brum and his career went to shit. Whats to say this won’t happen to Nasri, a player that gave us 4-5 good months over 3 seasons.
it’s all downhill after you leave wenger’s arsenal, no matter who you are. wenger gives players time to grow and space to express themselves that nobody else can match.
if nasri goes anywhere else he will suck, and he will be given the boot. his success has come from the team chemistry around him, he is average.
actually i don’t mind if he goes…i support all arsenal players including him but i never really liked him for arsenal…he doesn’t fit personally or technically…and he dissed henry.
i do think he’ll sign on and stay though…wenger will sort it
Honestly, my thoughts are let him go. If he’s got the audacity to hold the club to ransom like this, I’d rather he go. We shouldn’t do a Man U and placate trouble makers because it sets a precedent. And let’s be honest, barring his spectacular purple patch in the mid part of the season, he’s hardly set the world alight has he?
Bottom line, no one is bigger than the club. We’ll survive without him, especially if we get Eden Hazard in. ; )
@JONDADON if you read the post properly it was not a comment on United but rather the fact that he moved early before his time and his career has dwindled ever since not that leaving is going to relegate United. but still Utd would aim to use him better than Hleb at Barca
@ greg hleb went from arsenal-barcelona-birmingham, if nasri does come he will go from arsenal-manu and I doubt we would sell him to a relegation battling club. and as you stated ” I never comment on blog posts” you should have kept it that way
@ JONADON – how could you possibly predict that nasri won’t go through the same path as a veron/hleb/flamini/adebayor?
Yeah Chicarito has won a trophy .. congrats
but saying that khalid Boulahrouz has won more EPL’s than stephen gerrard …. not exactly a fair comparison is it?
Its easy to gloat about being a bandwagon supporter of a team that paid 90million dollars for its forward line … give that kind of money to most clubs and they could claim the same. Our team that defeated barcelona cost half that, while your superstars managed 3 shots on goal.
So get back on that bandwagon of yours – go support the richest team in town
JONDADON, Arsenal will not sell Nasri to you scum. That is a FACT. Whether Nasri wants to be sold to your club or not makes no difference whatsoever. Wenger will not allow him to go to Utd. That’s all there is to it. Nasri will either sign a new contract with Arsenal or he’ll be sold to a club abroad.
@ AGA ive been supporting manu before you were sucking on your mum tits, you dont know nothing about me so how can you assume I jumped on a bandwagon, yeye you can talk about beating barcelona. maybe you beat them in the champions league final oh no i forgot you didn’t make it to the final, or maybe you beat birmingham in the carling cup final oh no oops wrong again, im sure even arsenals trophy cabinet cleaner must have given up, thinking fuck it why clean a cabinet thats not been in use for 6 years. again the keyword you used is WON regardless of comparisons winning is the objective.
@Not Happening even if he doesn’t come oh well truth is half the team want to leave we all know cescs practically been on loan from barcelona because no matter what happens hes leaving, he belongs to barcelona, fact is if nasri doesn’t sign the contract he will leave for free next summer and if that happens you have no power whatsoever.
Arsenal Fiat Punto
Manu are Rolls Royce
We all know which one is best!!
all utd fans are morons.rolls royce.barca gave utd a total footballing lesson.clobbers,donkeys.
Samir who? hello EDEN HAZARD!!!!!!!!
@ JONADON – is your mental capacity too low to concievaby converse like an adult?
You are a bandwagon supporter – no doubt about it – no long supporting true fan of their club trolls on on other clubs blogs. Thats what the hormonal 16yr olds do.
If you stick to the key points of my argument without having a fit akin to that of a toddler, you will see that I am NOT saying united are not the better team – what I AM saying is that anyone could be as good as united in a league where they have spent more than their ten closest rivals over a 15 year period.
Simple logic – money (more often than not) will buy you success
Now please attempt a response that displays the slightest touch of decency and logic before having another cry.
Bet you will be a Man City supporter in 5 years when they buy your entire team – and the stadium tht you can’t afford – and you will be trolling on blogs saying you were a man city supporter even when they were in division 2. Pathetic.
ERR NO MONEY DOES NOT BUY SUCCESS, IF ARSENAL HAD THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY HE WOULD SPEND IT ON TODDLERS WHO KEEP KIDDING THEMSELVES THEY WOULD WIN IT NEXT YEAR, ITS FUNNY HOW EMOTIONAL YOU’RE GETTING OVER THE INTERNET IM LAUGHING MY HEAD RIGHT NOW, AND IN 5 YEARS NOT ONLY WILL I BE SUPPORTING MANU BUT ALSO SUPPORTING YOUR MUM (OOPS THAT MUST BE MY HORMONAL/TODDLER SIDE COMING OUT) DICKHEAD!
ITS FUNNY HOW EMOTIONAL YOU’RE GETTING OVER THE INTERNET IM LAUGHING MY HEAD RIGHT NOW
Says the guy typing in caps. In case you were unaware; the caps lock key is traditionally located between the left Tab and the Letf Shift buttons. Using it Capitalises your wording when the key is lit. Capatilised text in an electronic conversation traditionally denotes a heightened tone. A capatilised paragraph insinuates shouting. Shouting is a form of communication that is usually the result of a heightened emotional state. I understand this could be an information overload for a 15yr old drop out. Maybe you dropped out of school too early – I would reccomend you go back, and perhaps take some computer classes so you can learn about the caps lock key, and maybe even some additional economics lessons and learn toe concept of financial competative advantage.
Just don’t get too emotional.
AGA et al,
Polite notice: Do not feed the trolls. It only encourages them. Even if they’re more to be pitied than blamed….
Even nasri know he can’t bully arsenal he is only trying at manu he only get 1 season and he had better be good he is not a fab and still has a lot to learn and believe me we won’t miss him he should see the like of adebayo
Arsenal is Arsenal,it is more than individual players.”Let those in love of money” players go and let those in love of arsenal’s jersy in.I think it will creat good opprtunity to the likes of Aron,Miyichi,Theo,Wilshare and the like to out shine.Fabrgas became fabrgas of a great importance when Viera leaves,Adebayor, when Henry leaves…
We will miss him but I think its more important that we stick to our wage structure – he is not on that superstar plateau yet – like robin or fab.
I also have faith in our youth set up – as wuketaw said, ryo, aron, jack, theo, ankene & afobe will be at the face of it all – I also have a good feeling about frimpong this season
Can somebody please tell me how much Nasri was earning at the on-set of his contract with arsenal before i proceed? …………………….
Then go ahead to expllain what he’s done to deserve his expected wage rate of over 100,000 per week when the talismanic man with Van Persie hasn’t coughed that silly statement since.
Let him Go, go ,go,go,go,go,goooooooooooooo………………………. and bbring in Eden Hazard and Charmberline(sp).
@Jon…whatevet; Ur entire argumentative point is crap, One thing for sure is If Nasri do make the Unthinkable transfer to United, Im sure he will bench any of the midfield players……that being said I don thnk u don kno what the F*** u r talkin bout? I think ur mouth is working way faster than ur brain can comprehend, ease up on the words take ur time like 2years and sth. then write….
this flirting with other teams goes on all the time. although maybe not so publicly. if Cesc does go then it would be a shame to lose Nasri also, but i wouldn’t be devastated. and there’s no way we’d sell him to man utd. we might not be able to keep him, but we decide who we sell him too, and at 8-10m there’ll be a lot of big teams interested. the Telegraph’s saying we’re in ‘advanced talks’ with Gervinho & Willian. ah, the excitement of new players! although get the beefy cb first please,Arsene
Nasris move is driven by the desire to win trophies which has not been forthcoming at the London club. The talent that is samir nasri will definately find a place at old trafford and it’s not selfish for a player to seek glory. Even we the fans are seeking success and that’s the reason we have kept an eye on every move at the transfer market. Let nasri go for wat he feels is right.
“it’s all downhill after you leave wenger’s arsenal, no matter who you are.”
Except since leaving Arsenal, Hleb has the following honours to his name:-
La Liga Champion
Copa Del Rey Winner
Champions League Winner
English League Cup winner
What have Arsenal won in that time?
While with Birmingham, Hleb did more talking about wanting to return to Arsenal than he did playing! Even when he was fit, he couldn’t always get into the Birmingham team and if he had shown that he was half as good as he thought he was, we probably wouldn’t have been relegated.
What do man u fans think their talkin about why would nasri move from a side that were only knocked out of the CL buy 1 goal that bendtner should’ve scored at the nou camp with ten men and a dodgy ref to a side who were destroyed by barca and looked like a 3rd division team no offence to man u but they should’ve never won the league and if arsenal had a better defence and refs were better quality and not so biased toward man u and against arsenal there would only be 1 team at the top this year
Nasties and All arsenal players complaining of not winning trophies…really.. Who are the ones playing the game- them. It is not wenger’s fault or the management. It is the players with no
Passion or loyalty for the club such as nasri, clichy, fabregas…,
I love djourou for speaking for arsenal. Every player is replaceable
I say burn him at the stake
Arsenal’s tragedy is that they no longer attract (in any significant numbers) “Arsenal men”, doughty warriors devoted to the club. There are far too many selfish players, Nasri included, who milk the club for what they can get and then leave. Perhaps this is partly the fault of the manager. When you buy a player, it’s his character, at least as much as his talent, that should be assessed. Clearly that wasn’t done with the likes of Diarra, Adebayor, Hleb and Nasri.
@jondadon,don’t misquote nasri he never said he is leavin 4 man u,he only had a misunderstanding with AW,hleb won the UCL,laliga, copa de…,but he contributed little that’s not winning.i’m sure arsenal will be stronger next season with the likes of falcao, william, ozaze, samba, cahill, oxlade and co joining and denilson, bentner, chamack, almunia, squillaci, diaby and co leaving.UP GUNNERS!!!
Finkle is Einhorn?
Yes, to the stake…hmm..hmm…hubby jug highly j
JONDADON
The big question should be why is a united fan reading an Arsenal blog?
I don’t read United blogs, and why? I don’t care about united I care about Arsenal.
Seems someone really needs to take a long hard look at himself
Arsenal players should look to the likes of RvP. Not only are there never doubts about him being in the team every year, he doesn’t flirt with other teams or ever talk nonsense in papers. RvP is a true Arsenal player that all players shall be compared to. The passion, the love, the tenacity to fight for Arsenal Football Club; RvP is the man.
Take note Nasri and Clichy
Poor JONDADON. He’s obviously not very bright.
HAHAHAHA compare Nasri to a guy that played for the team that beat you in a final this year. thats right who out of Hleb and Nasri played for a team that won something this year? i was at wembley that day and if you want to blame anyone why not your shit defence instead of smearing Blues who even though we were relegated had a more suscessful season than Arsenal and blame your fans they were shit at wembley
spoons:- re medals for hleb, he played 5 league games in the 08/09 season for barca – i’m not sure you get a medal for that. He came on as a late substitute in the copa de ray final – so yes he probably got a medal, he wasn’t in the final 23 squad for the champions league final – so no he didn’t get a medal.
He’s played 19games for barca in 3seasons, 27 for stuggart and 19 for birmingham, so roughly an average of 22 appearances a season for the last 3 seasons -i’d imagine he’s very happy and proud of that (not), he probably would of played 45+ if he’d stayed at arsenal!
good article, shame about the comments! the real question here is: what is a man united fan doing on an arsenal blog?
If Nasri is to leave we should let him, he had a good 5 month spell but every player is replaceable. I dont think he would emulate hleb he has more to his game than hleb ever did. @JON You do nothing but add to the stereotype that united fans are gloryhunting fuckwits, arsenal fans are a different class. If we had won the league this year you wouldn’t find us on united blogs gloating and bragging of our achievements. Win with some honor.
I can understand why Nasri wants to go.
He is not a fan whose emotional ties to the club blind his thinking.
He is a professional footballer who wants to show his grandchildren medals.
No one’s going to stay working at Nokia when Apple come headhunting are they?
“Arsenal Fiat Punto
Manu are Rolls Royce
We all know which one is best!!”
Uh, JONDADON. Tell me this. What was the score the last time our two sides met? Ah yes, we beat you. 1-0 to the Arsenal. Nasri only played the first half of that game and Fabregas didn’t play at all.
So as Arshavin would say.. “Shhhhhhhhh……. “
finally flamini won scudetto with milan. if you are good you will prevail. if you are crap you will be hleb.
amen Goodplaya
Adebayor has done great too since he left….
nasri Wil not goto utd, simply because wenger will nvr sell to a rival, this is all nonsense created by nasri’s money hungry agent who is only interested in getting a bigger pay day for himself & his client. & I suspect if he doesn’t sign the new deal he Wil be probably sold to inter or someone. as for this arguement about utd winnIng the lge, consider this, yes they won the title, quite easily on fact. But they were one of the poorest utd sides I’ve seen in a long time, but they could only beat what was around them, which they did to win the league. It’s says alot when a bad utd team won them prem & got to the CL final, the fact is utd were poor, but arsenal & chelski were even worse. People should also remember that the new fair play rules will change alot of how clubs do business, so we will see how certain clubs & their managers will cope then.
Absolutely spot on!
“Whereas we have failed over the last couple of seasons in spite of having Cesc Fabregas, we have failed because of players such as Nasri, who ultimately failed to deliver when it mattered. Blunt, but ultimately true.”
I get where you’re coming from here but doesn’t it always matter?
