@Hazza1979 don't know what names... just don't want us to sell half the squad and only then buy... (like last year)

Are we the victims of a grand Spurs plan where we are forever in a 3rd place, trophyless comfort zone? http://t.co/AmZ4gLyB

@5mandefence @goonerboyblog agree that spirit has been greatly improved.

Thoughts

NO MATCH report today – my seat at the Emirates was empty courtesy of one of those events that cliche obliges me to say “puts football into perspective”.

If I’m honest, I’ve always hated that phrase. At best it is sloppy and lazy, at worse it suggests the person uttering it has actually been under the illusion that football is anything more than the most important of the unimportant things.

While I didn’t see it, what happened was no great surprise. Going into the game I felt anyone who tried to call it a bit of a chancer as frankly it was perfectly plausible that we’d rip through them and equally plausible we’d ship a few too. And so both came to pass.

One friend reported the game as being not unlike the 4-4 a couple of years ago: an extraordinary lining up of the planets denying a very decent Arsenal performance the win it deserved. Other reports lay more blame at our own door.

Reading the healdlines on the newswires, I see us being written off and Spurs being talked up for the title, not least by their manager.

A couple of thoughts if I may:

1) For all the turdness of our home record, we’re still four points ahead of them.

2) As for that title charge, at the current rate Spurs will rack up an earth shattering 59.7 points.

That second point truly is startling. That we’re nestled two points behind the leaders is equally startling frankly.

There are those who would argue it is the sign of what a tough league it is. Rubbish. It is a sign of what an average legue it is.

I could now watch the recording of the game, but frankly today has been trying enough.

I’ll wait for the release of the box set…
