@PD: It’s just math. Sick of seeing virtually every shot by Ramsey sail over the goal, or every shot by Rosicky go straight to the keeper’s feet. So if other strikers/shooters convert a shot 10% of the time when they take it, compare that with a 50% conversion rate of passes to RvP, and RvP converts shot on goal 30% of the time, then 30% of 50% is > 10% you’d get from their own shots. We’ll score more via attempted passes to RvP than wasted shots by ineffective scorers (and if lately Theo or weeks ago Gervinho were considered ineffective scorers, then definitely the other’s are).

eisfeld is no more than a punt at this stage, he’s only played for dortmund u-19s. we’ve had a litany of players from the continent that have come in a similar age and not made it. they are worth a punt because we get them for free or close enough, and their wages aren’t significant in the scheme of things. i’m thinking of nordveit, bischoff, tavlaridis and the like. they’ve all gone on to do ok elsewhere. it will be great if eisfeld makes it, but i’m not holding my breath.
agree with PD on this week – great opportunity to gain on chelsea. we need two good performances against 2 teams close to the bottom. time for more players to start scoring,we really need goals from midfield.
one last thought on transfers: i was hoping for midfield backup to come in with jack and diaby (forever injured) both being out. our backup right now consists of rosicky (more attack-minded and tends to be injury-prone himself) and coquelin (good, but a rookie). of course, a top-class centre forward to partner/back up RVP would also have been appreciated. i guess we’ll have to live with a 19-yr old German instead.
